Russ Romano, MA, ATC, FAFS, is the Director of Operations of Athletic Medicine, Associate Athletic Director, and Head Athletic Trainer. He holds a master’s degree in biomechanics and a bachelor of arts degree in athletic training from San Diego State University, and completed a fellowship in applied functional science at the Gray Institute of Functional Transformation as well as certification in Owens Recovery Science blood flow restriction.
Russ Romano has specialized in care of USC Trojan athletes for more than three decades. In addition to providing medical care for USC student athletes, he has authored/co-authored articles published in peer reviewed journals, has served as an associate editor for Neurosurgery in the sports and rehabilitation section and has also reviewed journal manuscripts for World Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Journal of Athletic Training and the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Seth Gamradt, MD (Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery & Director of Athletic Medicine) is a specialist in the field of orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine at USC. Dr. Gamradt is a director of Orthopaedic Athletic Medicine for USC Athletics. Dr. Gamradt is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. His practice has an emphasis on: arthroscopic shoulder surgery (rotator cuff repair and shoulder stabilization/labrum repair); arthroscopic knee surgery and ligament reconstruction (ACL surgery); shoulder replacement (including conventional, revision, and reverse replacement); and elbow arthroscopy/ligament reconstruction.
