Jon Yonamine is in his ninth season as the USC men’s basketball athletic trainer.  He was promoted to Associate Athletic Trainer, Men’s Basketball in August of 2015. He is the 2023 recipient of the California Athletic Trainers’ Association Life Saver Award, in recognition of life-saving emergency care.

He began working at USC in 2008 and has served as the Trojans’ athletic trainer for track and field (2008-11) and baseball (2011-13).

Yonamine previously worked as an assistant athletic trainer at UC Irvine. While at UC Irvine, he worked with various teams including men’s basketball, baseball, and the men’s and women’s golf teams. Prior to graduate school, he had internships with the New York Jets and Anaheim Ducks.

He is a graduate of UC Irvine in 2000 and earned a master’s in Kinesiology from Cal State East Bay in 2005 while working as a graduate assistant at Cal. He and his wife, Jennifer, have four children, a son Devin, a daughter Jordyn and twin daughters Brooklyn and Kamdyn.
