Derek Wu/胡凯杰 (he/they) is currently the Violence Prevention Specialist at Confidential Advocacy, Resources, and Education – Support Center where he will be focusing on curriculum development, data management/analysis, and outreaching with the USC community.

Derek first became involved with campus sexual violence at UC Riverside where he worked as a volunteer and a student employee. After receiving his Bachelor’s of Arts in Asian American Studies, he went on to pursue his Master’s of Education in Student Affairs at UCLA with the goal of supporting Students of Color in Higher Education. Derek would continue to work in Campus Sexual Violence Prevention at the UCLA CARE program as their Violence Prevention Coordinator.

Currently, Derek is a first year Ph.D. student at the University of San Diego where he will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Education for Social Justice. Derek’s research interests include: Asian American Family Structures and Campus Sexual Violence amoung Students of Color.

In his free time Derek enjoys going on walks with his dog, Pillow and going to local thrift stores in order to seek out interesting items he doesn’t need.
