Annamae (she/they) earned their dual Bachelor of Arts at the University of Arizona in creative writing with a focus in poetry, and gender and women’s studies with a focus in queer and trans studies. They later attend Claremont Graduate University, completing a Master of Arts in applied women’s studies with a focus in cultural studies in 2019, and are currently in the qualifying exam phase of their PhD in cultural studies. They have a background in LGBTQ+ leadership, advocacy and sexual violence prevention, library and digitization work, and harm reduction.
Annamae is the advocate and educator of LGBTQ+ specialty programs for USC’s Confidential Advocacy, Resources, and Education – Support Center. This unique role allows them to both work as an advocate in the LGBTQ+ Center supporting survivors and facilitating LGBTQ+ specific programming, as well as an educator focusing on prevention work with the Consent and Healthy Relationship modules and trauma informed training with the Department of Public Safety at USC. When they aren’t working, Annamae enjoys spending time with their chosen family, participating in LA’s and Tucson’s drag scenes, and hanging out at their favorite tattoo shop.
