Specialized Outreach (Prevention Specialist-facilitated)
We alsp offer specialized outreach programs to work with specific populations in our student community—Fraternity and Sorority Life, student leaders, and members of the LGBTQ+ student population.
Mental Health and Violence Prevention (MVP) peer education program is an initiative brought to you by Confidential Advocacy, Resources, and Education — Support Center (CARE-SC) and Counseling and Mental Health (CMH). The program currently serves femme and nonbinary members of Panhellenic, NPHC, and MGC. MVP is designed to provide comprehensive training that promotes mental health awareness and sexual violence prevention through peer education. MVP creates and uplifts leaders within the Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) community that are essential to creating a culture of consent, healthy relationships, and mental health resource utilization. Queer2Peer focuses on undergraduate peer-to-peer health education to specifically address the LGBTQ+ student population at USC. Queer2Peer is facilitated by Confidential Advocacy, Resources, and Education — Support Center (CARE-SC), the LGBTQ+ Student Center (LGBTQ+ SC), and Counseling and Mental Health (CMH) within USC Student Health. The goal of Queer2Peer is to train LGBTQ+ students leaders to educate other students and ally groups in order to promote violence prevention, stronger campus inclusivity, and healthier LGBTQ+ relationships. Brothers Recognizing Opportunities to Take Action and Help Empower Resilience and Support is a collaborative initiative between Confidential Advocacy, Resources, & Education – Support Center (CARE-SC) and Counseling and Mental Health (CMH) specifically for Multi Greek Council, Interfraternity Council, Asian Greek Council and National Pan-Hellenic Council members. BROTHERS will address the challenges and pressures faced by fraternity members, which can contribute to mental health concerns and community violence. Through collective efforts and a commitment to prosocial upstanding, BROTHERS strives to create healthier and more resilient fraternity cultures, where members feel empowered to support one another and foster positive change.
