Keck Pride: September Webinar Series of LGBTQ Health

Lindsey Lawrence Morrison from Keck Pride is hosting a September Series of LGBTQ Health Zoom sessionsevery Thursday from 12 – 1 pm. In these sessions, Lindsey will dive deeper into LGBTQ identity, health disparities and the systems that perpetuate those disparities, and strategies for active advocacy – culminating in an interactive session to come up with ideas on how we can translate our inclusive policies into actions. All are welcome! 

 Here are details about the upcoming sessions:

    • Week 1, Sept. 3: “LGBTQ Health 101”
      • Learn the basics of LGBTQ identity terms and experiences in healthcare
    • Week 2, Sept. 10:  “Cultural Humility, Not Competency”
      • Learn about how to improve LGBTQ health disparities by using the cultural humility framework, the importance of understanding our implicit/unconscious biases, and how to communicate in an open, welcoming manner
    • Week 3, Sept. 17: “How to Be an LGBTQ Ally”
      • What does being an LGBTQ ally mean? We will talk about helpful tips on being an LGBTQ ally at work and in healthcare, including how to respond when you hear assumptions or negative comments
    • Week 4, Sept. 24: “Putting Our Words Into Action“
      • We’ll dive deeper into the LGBTQ-specific policies, services, and resources at Keck, including KeckCare, and brainstorm together on how we can translate the words into actions
