Where to Start: Anti-Black Racism Resources

With the ongoing racial reckoning within our country, it is important to reiterate what we stand for as a School of Pharmacy community. We acknowledge that solely putting out statements is not enough, and we reaffirm our commitment to taking tangible actions that demonstrate our values.

To our Black students, faculty, staff and alumni – we see you and support you, and we are committed to continued work against racism.

To our Non-black students, faculty, staff and alumni – if you are wondering how to be an ally, what to do, or where to start in anti-racist work, here are some ways to start:

      • First, please be sensitive and mindful during these times. Be attentive to your Black colleagues and classmates. Do not minimize their feelings. Reach out IF you have established trusting relationships.
      • Be mindful of the images you share on social media and how they may be traumatizing/retraumatizing to Black people.
      • Seek out resources to become informed on equity, justice, and systemic racism.
      • Seek out resources from Black authors, activists, podcasters, and leaders.
      • Do not rely on your Black peers, colleagues, and friends for education. Educating you is not their job.
