The 20th annual Innovations in Medical Education conference will continue to be a 100% online event in 2023. This decision was made to with the goal of expanding the global network of innovative health care educators by making attendance at our conference available to everyone. The online format eliminates travel expenses and accommodates any travel restrictions.

The conference is an excellent opportunity to join a growing community of educators, leaders, scholars, and learners. We are united to promote change through innovation in health professions education, working together toward higher levels of excellence and wellbeing.

The 2023 IME Online Conference is seeking abstract submissions in the following categories:

1) Interactive skill-building workshops
2) Innovations (with at least pilot data)
3) Cool Ideas or Works-in-Progress (without outcome data)

The planning committee will consider all content areas intended to promote or assess learning at any level (undergraduate, graduate, practitioner, faculty).

Interactive Skill-Building Workshops being proposed should focus on key skills. Examples include skills related to teaching, mentoring/coaching, research, leadership, professional development, wellbeing, and use of technology.

Innovations, Cool Ideas and Works-in-Progress Abstracts: A wide variety of topics are welcome. Of particular interest are: learner/faculty wellbeing, social justice, diversity/equity/inclusion, culturally responsive health care, professionalism/professional formation, communication, quality improvement,  patient safety, competency-based education, and results of and reflections on educational innovations related to the crises of 2020-21.

Also of special interest are presentations of new or innovative student support services (i.e., psychosocial, academic, health, etc.) and innovative usage of educational methods and technologies (i.e., distance learning, online and hybrid delivery, virtual classroom management, immersive learning, simulation, FOAMed, etc.).
