The Student Health Fee (SHF) funds public health and preventative care for the student community, and underwrites the medical and mental health direct services.

The Student Health Fee is set separately from tuition, to meet the current health needs of students attending USC, and is the operational funding for all campus health programs. This encompasses clinical operation including medical care, mental health services, immunizations, sexual assault survivor support, prevention education, maintaining medical records, and 24/7 phone coverage to connect to these services.

The Student Health Fee appears each semester on the student account invoice and cannot be waived. Students enrolled ONLY in online classes are automatically excluded from participation in the fee, but may opt-in to the program if they currently reside in California.

Are there any other costs?

All medical and counseling visits at the campus health centers; workshops, group therapy, and prevention programs such as are underwritten by the SHF. There are no co-pays and no billing to insurance for visits or participation in these programs.

Charges may apply for some lab tests, items such as crutches, and immunizations.
