SCOPE aims to educate and empower high school students from Los Angeles Unified School District partner schools to explore pharmacy & pharmaceutical sciences career pathways. Students at USC Mann lead our efforts as SCOPE ambassadors in three program pillars: High School Outreach, Saturday Academy, and Mentorship. Find out more about these programs, and how you can get involved or support our SCOPE ambassadors and high school SCOPE scholars.
SCOPE High School Outreach
The SCOPE High School Outreach program is currently partnered with the following high schools across LAUSD: John C. Fremont Senior High, Francisco Bravo Magnet Medical High School, Academy of Medical Arts at Carson Complex & Woodrow Wilson Senior High.

Our outreach focuses on giving students a baseline level of knowledge of what the pharmacy practice area entails. A typical outreach event contains the following elements:
- Introduction to SCOPE and SCOPE pillars
- Overview of Career Pathways in Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Interactive Patient Cases involving relevant disease states to the community (Hypertension, Diabetes, Opioid Use Disorder, Naloxone Administration)
- Higher Education Pathway Guidance
- SCOPE Ambassador Q/A
- Mental Health Presentation (Special Request)
- Clinical Pharmacy Presentation (Special Request)
SCOPE Saturday Academy
The Saturday Academy was founded in 2022, and occurs on Saturdays over a 6-week period each Fall. High school students, AKA SCOPE Scholars explore career pathways in pharmacy and pharmaceutical sciences and complete a group pharmaceutical discovery project.
