Assistant Director of Clinical Sport Psychology Services, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Keck School of Medicine of USC
Niki Sims, PsyD, CMPC, is returning to USC as the Assistant Director of Clinical and Sport Psychological Services as well as a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral science at Keck Medicine of USC. She returns after three years working with the University of Notre Dame where she held the positions of Assistant Director/University Counseling Center and Clinical and Sport Psychology Program Director. Prior to Notre Dame, she worked at USC as a Clinical and Sport Psychologist for 8 years, including her postdoctoral work.
Her professional interests include clinical and performance work with student-athletes, outreach/programming with teams, consultation with Athletic Department administration, coaches and staff regarding policy, program development, team dynamics and mental health issues, cultural intersectionality, cultural humility, diversity, first-generation college student issues, injury recovery, eating concerns. mindfulness in athlete populations, integrated psychotherapy, cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal process therapy (CBT/IPT), supervision and teaching.
She received her Bachelors in Science in Psychology from Oklahoma City University as a scholarship soccer student athlete in 2001 and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Sport and Exercise Science from the Arizona School of Professional Psychology in 2009.
Niki is married to Shaun Sims who have two children together, Liam (12) and Lily (2). Niki enjoys spending free time with family and friends, getting outdoors, reading, watching a good movie, and remodeling projects.
