Yoko Katahira-Ables, earned her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Azusa Pacific University and bachelor’s degrees in psychology and education from the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is currently pursuing her doctorate degree from Azusa Pacific University.

Yoko is passionate about creating safe, affirming, and empowering therapeutic spaces for individuals from LGBTQIA+ and underrepresented racial-ethnic communities. She works within a trauma-informed, systems-based framework, taking into account educational community, cultural context, and broader structures of power and oppression. Utilizing an integrative approach, she draws upon elements of psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual.

In her spare time, Yoko enjoys cooking, collecting houseplants, exploring nature, trying new coffee shops, and spending time with her pit bull, Lulu.
